This is a freely improvised piece entirely dedicated to Emanuela Evangelista, an Italian biologist who has dedicated her entire adult life to protecting the Amazon Forest, its people and animals, particularly the giant otter and the pink dolphins or ‘botos’, which live in the freshwater. Botos have mythical status as I'm sure Emanuela will one day. Apart from her environmental work she has helped as a midwife give birth to some of the children in the nearby villages.

From the forest, Emanuela runs Amazônia Onlus, an NGO that works to protect the rainforest by providing its inhabitants – the forest guardians - with healthcare, training, employment, income and development. If you'd like to learn more about her projects visit:
